Welfare Sounds & Records

Welfare

In 2025, it will be a decade since Welfare Sounds & Records released its very first record – Terra’s vinyl single Här kommer natten. Since its founding in 2015, the independent Gothenburg-based label has become a natural home for some of Sweden’s most exciting rock, indie, and punk acts.

Over the past ten years, Welfare Sounds & Records has put out records by artists such as Stefan Missios, Tomma Intet, Division of Laura Lee, Spøgelse, Beverly Kills, Långfinger, Terra, Toad Venom, The Mary Onettes, Fews, Bergslagsdiagonalen, Bolander, Katthem, Tyred Eyes, Telos Vision, and Albert af Ekenstam. A whole lot of vinyl has made its way out of the yellow house on Tättingegatan, but perhaps more importantly, the label has cultivated a culture where music is allowed to be personal, unpredictable, and uncompromising.

The 10-year anniversary will be celebrated at Enrico Palazzo on Ringön in Gothenburg on May 24 with a big party – a night of live music from Welfare artists and world-class hi-fi experiences. The lineup hasn’t been announced yet. Maybe it won’t be at all.
